Living with Type 2 Diabetes

It’s no secret that living with either type of Diabetes is not easy and it involves a great amount of will power and determination. For a person suffering with type 2 Diabetes, it also delays sugar absorption, which allows better control of sugar levels. Fiber is also an excellent source of vitamins and minerals. You can obtain fiber in the following food items:

• Fruits
• Vegetables
• Whole grains
• Brown rice
• Bran products


Exercise is extremely important for those suffering with Diabetes because it helps to improve their body’s use of insulin. Exercise also helps them to control their weight, improve their muscle strength, increase bone density, and lower their blood pressure. Of course exercise is good for anyone, but for those suffering with type 2 Diabetes, it is necessary in order to stay healthy.

When exercising, the body needs extra energy (glucose). Intense exercise can actually increase your blood glucose levels. The body recognizes intense exercise as a stress and releases stress hormones that tell your body to increase available blood sugar to fuel your muscles.
